Clue #4 is the word "Now."
You have no idea how excited I am, Shelli!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled and nervous and jumping up and down!
Now that I've calmed down, I checked out Lee's and Greg's vlogs! Loved their insights on blogging and twitter!
ReplyDeleteSuch great advice! I have Christina Katz's book and it is fabulous. :) I've LOVED this week Shelli!
ReplyDeleteOh, and congrats Kelly!!
ReplyDeleteThis post is great. I love their vids--short and sweet and full of good advice.
ReplyDeleteGreat advice.
ReplyDeleteHow about doing a post on finding listservs? And other such things? (I'm completely clueless about the things mentioned in these vlogs.)
Congrats Kelly! (smiling through sobs- I really wanted that crit with Marietta).
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg! Its so cool to see you move and hear your voice after following your tweets.
Never underestimate the power of blogging. Search engines will put you in touch with people who share the same interests, whether it happens to be a student researching sea turtles or a fellow children’s book writer. I’ve met some very interesting people over the years! I haven’t braved Twitter yet, though.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Kelly!!!!
I loved the stuff Lee did at SCBWI, LA, and he's wonderful! I will check out Greg in a few, I have to get to work for a deadline, and truthfully, I have to rearrange my brain for Twitter. Despite some wonderful friends who love it, I confess the old fogey/procrastinator in me has avoided this phenomenon. So two more cups of joe and I come here with an open mind and heart. Shelli this has been a great series, and I appreciate your running it!
ReplyDeleteGood advice.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you and Elena.

A double shot. Thanks Shelli!
ReplyDeleteNeat! I'm still working on the effectiveness of Twitter...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great advice, Greg and Lee! I am getting so much info from this one week, I have to take all this weekend to digest it. Where to start? Thanks for doing this Shelli!
ReplyDeleteJennifer
I think my favorite of Lee's three reasons to blog is community. I love getting online and knowing there are people out there like me, going through the same things I am!
ReplyDeletecongratulations Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI love this week long contest - it's so exciting!
Great clips Lee and Greg! I so want today's prize!
ReplyDeleteExcellent advice, especially for me who only blogs occasionally and is new to the tweeting world. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove the blogging tips. The online writing community is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGreat advice on blogging and twittering, although I'm still not a twitter fan. Congrats to Kelly
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kelly! And what wonderful advice :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me join in the Mardi Gras celebration, Shelli.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Susie, it's nice on this end, too, to move and speak instead of just type!
"Blogging is awesome for authors"--Lee Wind.
ReplyDeleteAnd that was a great pep talk, thank you!
Congrats to Kelly! (and serious envy here. What a prize!)
Congrats to Kelly!!
ReplyDeleteI love this advice. Nice, easy to follow, very much needed instruction.
I bet the book by Christina Katz is super. It's on my list of books to buy, that's for sure.
Thank you Lee and Greg. =)
And thanks to Shelli!! Great week. On to the scavenger hunt. (^_^)
Yet another great post. I will be so sad to see this week of awesomeness end. :)

This is so fun -- and useful!
ReplyDeleteLove the suspense, the clues...
And Lee's shirt!
I'm still lost when it comes to Twitter. :)
ReplyDeleteThis has been a great set of posts this week! Thanks!
What a fantastic week this has been!
ReplyDeletethe week's not over yet people! Tomorrow is a BIG day. Gear up! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I started blogging a couple of weeks ago, and I am loving it!! It's not only helpful, but another great way to network and just WRITE!
ReplyDeleteOne of my crit partners made me, err, suggested I do Twitter. So, I set up my account. I have no clue why Twitter is so hard for me to get, but I am going to work hard to get there soon!!
I am so not an idiot, but I actually called it Tweeter on my blog last night. Sigh.
Tiffany - I used to say "I twit". Duh? I would say focus on one thing or the other for now since you are just dipping your toe in the water. Wait until one establishes before you start the other.
ReplyDeleteAll - for those new followers. bear with me. I plan to come and visit your blogs next week. This contest is taking up most my free time. Just know I appreciate all my new blogger friends and of course, am devoted to all my oldies too :)
Whether I win or not, thank you so much for doing this, Shelli! I've learned so much this week from you and your guest bloggers (and I've found a few bloggers of interest, too!) I'm still trying to "digest" all of it. ;D
ReplyDeleteThis week long party is THE BEST :D. Thanks for all of the wonderful advice!
ReplyDeleteBTW, Shelli. I tried to find you on Facebook, but all I found was a "Be Your Fan" (signed up, thank you very much) but I'm not sure that's what you wanted?
ReplyDeleteThanks Shelli, Lee, and Alex! I loved Lee's comment about practicing your voice in your blog. So true. I'm just starting to figure out Twitter, but I get totally confused with YALITCHAT. I feel like I'm following five different conversations at once while suffering from memory lost.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun week, Shelli. I can't believe it's already over. :(
Wow, excellent contest!
ReplyDeleteAnd great tips on blogging and twitter. Loved the video presention, 1 minute to blogging! Short, sweet, and packed with great info--and pretty cool sound effects to boot ;)
As a Twitter follower of Greg's, I know that he practices what he preaches.
Great post!
Victoria - you can either be a fan or you can click the facebok link on the left side under "where I hang out" and friend me there :)
ReplyDeleteThe same thing will post on both.
Such gret advice in such a short segment. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGreat videos. Thanks, Lee, Greg and Shelli!
ReplyDeleteGreat vlogs, Lee and Greg! Congrats, Kelly - I am sooo jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteI love blogging...am on my third one ;) This time I am not running from my stalker!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't warmed up to Twitter yet, but I haven't bailed on it yet either.
Love the videos. Thanks for hosting these amazing contests Shelli!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying really hard not to be bitter at my computer that won't let me watch videos at the moment---Adobe Flash Player hangup. Urf!
ReplyDeleteNow, I want to read Greg's book! Clearly, I need help b/c the photo I tried to use in my posts isn't showing up. Boo.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Kelly. And thanks for the great week Shelli.
ReplyDelete"Tweet unto others as you would have them tweet unto you."
ReplyDeletePRICELESS!!
Awesome videos :)
Fantastic vlogs! Again, wonderful week of contests, Shelli!
ReplyDelete2 great videos with a ton of great info. I love that Lee quoted Ursula from The Little Mermaid :)
ReplyDeleteI thought the clue word was going to be "today". Close, but not quite!
Thanks again for hosting this. Everything has been so helpful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for having such awesome contests!
ReplyDeleteI'm following both of you.
Comment from Mary Ellen Dukes:
ReplyDeleteI am having trouble posting on your website. I am on dialup and can't get the vlogs to load, either, so I know I'm missing some REALLY good stuff!
Since my dialup is so s l o w.... it times out before I can load videos. So I'll have to miss today's contest and the vlogs, darnit!
Also, blogging is a very convenient form of procrastination sometimes, right? :-)
ReplyDeleteAll the same, I'm doing it, and even for the reasons in the video, plus I want to have something for an agent to click through to on the sig line of my e-query.
Thanks for having this contest Shelli! Great info today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great info!
ReplyDeleteGreat vids! I'm still trying to get the hang of Twitter. I'm heading over now to follow Greg and see if I can't pick up more tips.
ReplyDeleteOh, and lest I forget: CONGRATS Kelly!
Fun contest!
ReplyDeleteSo much advice and info this week! (okay, the wealth of info on your blog isn't new, but it is appreciated.) It's been awesome! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great tips, and congratulations to Kelly!
ReplyDeleteI checked out both Lee and Greg's Vlogs. They are great. I did tell you I am following both you and Elana. Thanks for organizing these tips, creting a scavenger hunt. It takes time!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun contest, Shelli!
Great post and good advice. :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've neither blogged nor vlogged nor tweeted, so it's good to hear these perspectives. Thanks to all!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog via D.L. Hammons and Cruising Altitudes recommendation to come check it out and I am so happy I did. I have been published but am still a work in progress and am looking to expand my knowledge and horizons! I am a follower!
