BEA Bonanza - Day 1

I'm alive!!!

I had the best time at BEA. Books books books! That's all it is for 3 days!
I shipped home 100 lbs of books! Yes I did! And most of them are for you! (Hate to admit it but I'm keeping some for myself!! Hey I didn't almost die twice for nothin'! :).

A little bit about BEA - its like playing the Hunger Games only in a bookstore instead of an outside arena. And Books are a hotter commodity than any food or weapons. In fact, books ARE your weapons! I'm not kidding when I saw I almost died twice - either by being trampled or killed with a new Hardback.

The slogan of the week with Jen Hayley and Shana Silver: "If we lose you, you are on your own!" ;) If you dont believe me, check this out!

Here's the deal - June is filled with stuff for you in celebration of all the books promoted at BEA. There will be:
  • Signed books
  • ebook ARCs
  • paperback ARCs
  • Book Swag
  • Agent contests - Bree Ogden (Martin Literary), Mary Kole (Andrea Brown), and Suzie Townsend (Fineprint)
  • Editor scoop - Daniel Ehrenhart (Harper), Regina Griffin (Egmont), Natashya Wilson (Harlequin Teen) and more!
  • Author interviews - James Dashner, Holly Cupala, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Kiersten Miller and more!
  • and more.
The contests/giveaways will be announced in the following places:
There will be:
  • daily stuff
  • spontaneous stuff when I am inspired
  • special follower giveaways
  • prizes for new followers in June
  • prizes for June commenters
  • and a special newsletter giveaway at the end of the month
Rules:
1) You must be a loyal follower to be eligible for any of the prizes. Why? Because I love meeting you guys and finding new bloggers/tweeters and can't unless you follower or comment. Also I think its only fair to reward those who come and listen to me rant :)

2) You must remember to enter for each prize. Remember each prize will ask you to take one action. So if you follower today and comment, it does not mean you are in the drawing for the whole month. You will be in the drawing today! Got it?

Bonus
Oh yeah, and when I hit 1,000 followers on my twitter and blog, I have a HUGE marketing prize you don't want to miss! So pass make sure your friends know about the Bonanza. Also if you sign up for my newsletter, at the end of the month, I will giveaway a secret package.

This month should be fun and I think you will love the giveaways I got for you so I hope you join me :)

Let's get to it!

Today's giveaway is:

A hardcover of Cory Doctorow's recently released of For the Win! For The Win is about a virtual future of gamers, Big Sister, and shadow economies.

Sign up as a Follower and answer this question:

What is one thing you would not want anyone to see (big brother or big sister)?

Tomorrow, along with our BEA giveaway - we have Mitali Perkins, author of Bamboo People, discussing Twitter book parties.

What wouldn't I want someone to see? Well, most people think I'm pretty organized, but I've got a basket of crap in my office I just can't clean out. It's full of stuff that belongs no where else and is my Achille's tendon of organization.

Ooo, June is going to be an awesome month--and it's perfect timing, since I actually have time to blog hop again! Can't wait.

What I wouldn't want people to see? Oh mans, I can think of a ton of answers to that question, but I guess I'll go with the way I look when I wake up. Puffy eyes, dark circles and bed hair do not equal cute. My poor, poor husband. Too bad he's stuck with me! :)

The one thing I wouldn't want anyone to see? Well...I'm not tellin', cause then you'll see it. ;) :D

It was so great meeting you, Shelli!

What I wouldn't want anyone to see? I'll go with all the general body grossities that I will not name.

Holy cow, you are awesome! BEA sounds fabulous and scary all at once. :)

What wouldn't I want anyone to see? My closets. Seriously. (That and the layers of baby love I'm still working off).

Yay for BEA goodness! :)

I wouldn't want anyone to see the usual state of my house. I'm not a good housekeeper. LOL.

when i was in grade school i believed big brother WAS watching me... through the clothes hamper in our bathroom! why i thought anyone would want to watch me while i was on the toilet (and nowhere else in the house) is beyond me.

now all i wouldn't want seen are the various writings i did back in my early 20s (and why, exactly, haven't i destroyed them yet?)

I am glad you came back in one piece from the BEA. Besides being almost trampled sounded like it was a good time.

Hmmm big brother can't see my overflowing pile of laundry.

LOL, so funny!

Definitely not the faces I make when I'm writing. No one needs to see that.

The one thing I wouldn't want anybody is see is me when I'm terribly stressed out. Not a pretty sight. :)

How messy my desk really is.

Sounds like BEA was a lot of fun. There was lots of tweetering about it. :)

I wouldn't want anyone to see my sad attempt at a diary. I made it on Word (e-diary!) and password protected it, but gave up.

Shelli, I'm so jealous you have that many books being shipped to you. And I MUST GO WITH YOU NEXT YEAR. I need to start a "miracle fund" or something so I can get there.

I so want FOR THE WIN! I would not want anyone, ever, to see how much money I waste on eating out. Ever.

whoa - you guys are getting personal. I'm actually blushing.

Ok ill play along in the spirit -

I talk to myself. I know it doesnt sound bad....but I have FULL conversations. I speak for both sides, which means I usually win any argument and laugh at all my own jokes. BTW, me myself and I are great brainstormers!

sometimes my daughter comes in and says: "Mommy who are you talking to?"

Wow - amazing! One of these days I'm going to attend one of these fun events!

Hmm... what don't I want anyone to see?...

My dust bunnies - we've named them. *sigh* 'nuff said.

I wouldn't want to put anyone through watching my reaction when my self-applied hair color turns my strands bright orange.

Welcome back! Missed reading you :-) You have 100 pounds of books?????? My jaw is on the floor!

Okay, the something I don't want people to see.... would be dancing around the house in my nightie- too many jiggly parts! Not to mention to dancing looks pretty dorky!

I wouldn't want anyone to see all the pens I've stolen. Accidentally. I think.

Sounds like BEA was great and you have a great month planned for us.

I wouldn't want anyone to see my basement. I try to get my family to clean it up, but they're pack rats. Okay maybe I have a bit down there too.
