Now, for Moonglass by Jessi Kirby.

When Anna was little, she and her mother used to search for sea glass, but since they looked at night, they called it moonglass. Now, ten years after her mother's mysterious death, her father is working as head lifeguard on the same beach where her mother grew up and her parents first met and fell in love.

Reluctant to get close to anyone (including her father) and not pleased about having to start at a new school, Anna begins to spend more time alone, running the length of the beach and wondering about who her mother really was. After meeting a lifeguard named Tyler, she slowly lets her guard down and together they start exploring the abandoned houses that dot the beach.

But when learning more about her mother's past leads to a painful discovery, Anna must reconcile her desire for solitude with ultimately accepting the love of her family and friends.

10 Reasons why I love this book:

1) Love the cover. Its even more beautiful in person. (oh and the guy's behind is cute :)

2) It's a great summer book! And if you go to the beach - it's even better!

3) It'll make you cry. The story hit me right in the heart.

4) It will make you want to hunt for sea glass next time you walk a sandy beach.

5) Um, Jessi is adorable.

6) It's a contemporary!!! Yes has some mermaid mythology and of course, a sweet romance with Tyler.

7) The setting is amazing

8) Sarah Dessen loved it! (This should have been #1)

9) Anna the main character was so real. How many times when we were teens did we all walk back and froth n front of the lifeguards to try and get their attention ;)

10) The writing was wonderful.

Giveaway! Comment - Tell me about a memorable time you went to the beach as a teen. I have a book to giveaway! :)

My most memorable beach trip must be when I was fourteen and so self-conscious about my (lack of) chest that I spent the whole time sunbathing lying on my stomach. By the end of the day, my back was so sunburned it blistered and peeled for weeks. No walking in front of lifeguard chairs for me!

I mostly tried not to go to the beach as a teen. I was overweight and self conscious. I do remember going with my cousin to a lovely beach where I live but because of white flight from our town it was deserted in a creepy way.

I'd love to win the book. I've heard great things about it.

The book looks & sounds awesome!!

When we were teens on the beach we had a football game that translated into 3 injuries - none serious, but all hysterical in their own ways. Funniest one involved a guy & a small tree he didn't see :)

This happened when I was 12, so I hope it counts even though I wasn't quite a teen yet. My mom's very close friend lived on Martha's Vineyard and we went to visit. They took us on a drive around the island to show us where Jaws was filmed and then expected us to actually go swimming in the water. We buried my brother in the sand instead. It seemed much safer.

I never went to the beach as a teen. Maybe because I lived in Kansas. BUT I did go when I was 12 and then again when I was 19. 19 is still a teenager. There was a performing monkey at the beach who played catch with my shoe. A performing monkey on the beach is almost as cool as a boy on the beach.

I'm still a teen, and haven't really been to the beach much in the last couple of years. XD. I'll share when I was a little kid, though.
I couldn't have been older than 5 or 6, and didn't know how to swim. My older siblings were all playing out in the deeper water, and I tried to get to them. I was stretching on my tiptoes, barely keeping my chin above water and my toes on the sandy bottom, and I was stuck. I couldn't move forward, since it was too deep, and I couldn't keep my balance to get back to shore. I freaked out. When my mother (or father, maybe. someone on shore, I think) noticed that I was stuck, they called my brother, who grudgingly left the others and swam over and helped me from where I was stuck in limbo.
Not such a pleasant memory. I vaguely remember also, at the same beach, feeling something slimy by my feet and picking up half a jelly fish, dropping it, and running back to shore.
Agaon, not so pleasant, but I had fun that day :)

Thanks for the giveaway!

Girl, you know how to sell a book! I SO want to read this now.

Beach memories? No romantic ones (I know, sad), but I do remember as kids spending the whole day with the family at the beach--literally, from sunrise til after sunset--and even swimming not too far from shore in the dark.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I'm practically living on the beach at the moment. It's pretty memorable! I absolutely love that cover. The colors, the moon...so beautiful!

My memory of the beach is leaving school and having to take the bus to the beach (because no one drove) And since I lived in suburbia, no one actually took the bus except the crazy people. My friends and I would sit in our little bikini's and sun hats while the crazy people yelled profanities.
