Bookanistas - Head Over Heels for Sean Griswold's Head

According to her guidance counselor, fifteen-year-old Payton Gritas needs a focus object-an item to concentrate her emotions on. She decides to use the thing she stares at during class: Sean Griswold's head. The focus object is intended to help Payton deal with her father's newly diagnosed multiple sclerosis. And it's working. With the help of her boy-crazy best friend Jac, Payton starts stalking-er, focusing on-Sean Griswold . . . all of him! He's cute, he shares her Seinfeld obsession (nobody else gets it!) and he may have a secret or two of his own.

10 Things I love about Sean Griswold's Head:

(okay not his head exactly - but the BOOK.)
  1. Sean! hello? You gotta love his head. It's kinda what the book's about - the dome, noggin, thinker.
  2. The humor - Lindsey is hilarious! I always knew this but I love to laugh out loud while reading a book
  3. The sensitivity of the MS angle. My grandmother died from MS so I was interested to see how it was touched upon.
  4. Realness - MS is scary and confusing disease. i think Payton's rx is very authentic, yet the book wasn't a downer.
  5. Franklin Planners - Okay I used tio LOOOOOOVE Franklin planners. I cracked up b/c I went to all the seminars with Stephen Covey. Sigh - I kinda miss the little, thick thing. I m going to look for an app now.
  6. Lindsey herself - yeah I know it's not about the book but she's an awesome friend and a great person that you want to hang out with again and again.
  7. Her BFF- Jac's - crazy schemes - oh come on you know you've semi-stalked boyfriends
  8. Bike riding - now I want to go get a new bike and go about 25 miles. Okay maybe just to a mexican place close by for some cheese dip but you get the point. I like that this book makes exercise kinda cool.
  9. The pop culture references - Love Seinfeld  - yes i am old - so I got the references and they were fun.
  10. The good family - yes they lied about the illness but Payton's family is cool and together. Not dysfunctional or mean or broken.

This sounds like a fun one. I'm glad you reviewed it because I probably wouldn't have grabbed this one on my own. Thanks, Shelli. :-)

Funny stuff! Love the premise--it's in itself quirky and hilarious. I only recently started getting into Seinfeld. I hated it when I was younger. It just seemed like a show about nothing with really self-absorbed people. But I've caught a few episodes recently and have laughed my head off. Perhaps I'm evolving.

I'm also really intrigued by this book because my uncle recently died of MS and it's something I'd watched him struggle with his entire life (plus the effect it had on my cousins) so I'm curious to see how it's handled here. Plus, YAY humor!!!
